Chapter 1: Preliminary

Section 1: (Short title,extent,commencement and application)

(1) This Act may be called the Information Technology Act, 2000.

(2) It shall extend to the whole of India and, save as otherwise provided in this Act, it applies also to any offence or contravention thereunder committed outside India by any person.

(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the commencement of that provision.

(4) Nothing in this Act shall apply to documents or transactions specified in the First Schedule by way of addition or deletion of entries there to.

(5) Every notification issued under sub-section (4) shall be laid before each House of Parliament.

Topic content : Partnership Act,1932 Scope of the  Act An Act was enacted in 1932 and it came into force on the 1st day of October 1932. The present Act superseded the earlier law, which was contained in Chapter XI of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. Introduction Partnership results from a contract and is governed by the Partnership Act 1932. The partnership is also governed by the general provision of the Indian Contract Act on such matters where the Partnership Act is silent. It is expressly mentioned that the provision of India Contract Act which is not repealed will be applicable on Partnership until and unless such provision is in contrary to any provision of Partnership Act, 1932.
